LOS ANGELES – Councilmember Ysabel Jurado issued the following statement after the first Ad Hoc Committee on Measure United to House Los Angeles (ULA) meeting, during which she convened community leaders, housing advocates, and workforce stakeholders directly impacted by the measure:
“Today marked an important start to the City’s review of Measure ULA. We heard from a wide range of voices—including housing advocates, labor, and community members—who all brought valuable perspectives to this conversation. That input is critical as we take a thoughtful and comprehensive look at how ULA is working and where it can be strengthened.
Measure ULA represents a commitment that the people of Los Angeles made to confront our housing and homelessness crisis with real, sustained resources. That mission remains as urgent today as it was when voters approved it.
As chair, I am committed to using this committee to ensure ULA delivers on its promise—by improving efficiency, increasing transparency, and making sure these resources are moving as quickly and effectively as possible to support housing production, protect tenants, and prevent homelessness.
This is about getting it right—and making sure we are meeting the scale of the crisis with the urgency it deserves.”
