Councilmember Ysabel Jurado Responds to Completed LAFD Investigation of June 17 Lineage Cold Storage Fire

Posted on 09/22/2026

LOS ANGELES – In response to the LAFD’s announcement that it has concluded its investigation into the June 17 Lineage Cold Storage Fire, Councilmember Ysabel Jurado today issued the following statement:

“Determining what caused the Lineage fire matters—not only for accountability, but to help ensure a disaster like this does not happen again. But LAFD’s finding that the cause remains undetermined does nothing to alleviate what Boyle Heights residents have endured and are still carrying: months of health concerns and disruption, along with unanswered questions about whether this site can safely operate again. The fact that we still cannot explain how this catastrophe began is yet another reason I will continue opposing any permits to rebuild this facility. Boyle Heights should not be asked to accept a rebuilt operation while residents continue to bear the consequences and fundamental safety questions remain unresolved. This community deserves recovery, accountability and meaningful safeguards—not a rush to rebuild.”
