Councilmember Ysabel Jurado Issues Statement on Student Walkouts in Protest of Federal Enforcement Actions

Posted on 02/06/2026

LOS ANGELES – Councilmember Ysabel Jurado today issued the following statement in response to Eastside student walkouts in protest of federal immigration enforcement actions that continue to terrorize neighborhoods and tear families apart:

“I am incredibly proud of the Eastside students who are leading with courage. At a moment when too many young people are going home to missing parents and neighborhoods bearing the terror and trauma of federal enforcement actions, these students are choosing solidarity over silence and community over fear.

This is the legacy of the Eastside, young people leading with moral clarity, and that leadership deserves to be protected, uplifted, and given our full support.”

The statement comes as students and families across Los Angeles continue to navigate the impact of recent federal enforcement actions, underscoring the role young people are playing in advocating for one another and their communities.
