Although smoke has decreased, residents near the fire area should continue taking precautions, especially children, older adults, pregnant people, and anyone with asthma, heart disease, or other respiratory conditions.
What to do now: Stay indoors if you smell smoke or see ash. Keep windows and doors closed. Use filtered air or an air purifier if available. Avoid unnecessary outdoor activity. If your home is smoky or you need a safe indoor space, shelter and smoke relief locations are open.

Los Angeles Unified Region East School Relocation
Due to the nearby fire in the Boyle Heights area and the changing air quality conditions, the following schools will be relocated to alternate schools on Monday, June 22, 2026.
Shelter / Smoke Relief Locations:
These locations are open for City of Los Angeles and Los Angeles County residents who need a safe indoor space away from smoke. Small pets are welcome.
- City Terrace Park, 1126 N. Hazard Ave., Los Angeles, CA 90063
- Pecan Recreation Center, 145 S. Pecan St., Los Angeles, CA 90033
Free transportation
Uber is offering up to two free rides to or from these locations, up to $40 per trip, for residents within 2.5 miles of the fire. Use promo code ELASAFE26 in the Uber app. Valid through June 27.
